AirScanner
Terms, plainly.
Effective
These terms cover your use of the AirScanner app and this informational website. AirScanner connects an iPhone or iPad to a compatible flatbed scanner, saves PDFs, and recognizes text on-device for in-app search. Our privacy policy explains data handling.
Use it with permission
Scan only documents you own or are authorized to scan, and connect only to scanners and networks you are allowed to use. Respect applicable law and other people’s privacy and intellectual property rights. You retain your rights in your documents; these terms do not transfer them to the developer.
What you need
AirScanner requires iOS or iPadOS 17 or later and a real eSCL/AirScan-compatible flatbed scanner on the same local Wi-Fi network. It is not a camera scanner, and AirPrint support alone does not establish compatibility. Local Network permission is required. Isolated guest networks can prevent connections; keep the app open while scanning.
Available scan settings and results depend on your scanner, its firmware, your network, and your operating system. Compatibility with every scanner, network setup, or future system version is not guaranteed. Use trusted networks: scanner transport may be unencrypted, as explained in the privacy policy.
Check your output and keep backups
- Review saved PDFs for completeness, legibility, and correct page content before relying on them or discarding originals. Scans capture the full platen; automatic cropping is not provided.
- Check recognized text before using or sharing it. OCR can miss or misread text, and exported PDFs do not receive a searchable OCR text layer.
- Treat empty-glass checks as an estimate, not proof that the glass is empty or a document has been detected correctly.
- Keep backups of important documents. Local app storage is not an archive or a backup service; deletion, device loss, or system changes can affect access to your files.
Other services you choose
Exports, sharing, Photos, clipboard features, and backups depend on the apps and system services you use. Optional ratings are handled by Apple. This website is hosted by GitHub Pages, and public support issues are handled by GitHub. Those providers’ terms and privacy policies apply to their services; AirScanner does not control their availability or handling of copies you send to them.
Availability and responsibility
To the extent permitted by law, the app and website are provided “as is” and “as available,” without additional warranties. The developer does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, scanner compatibility, accurate OCR, successful scans, or suitability for a particular purpose.
To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable from use of the app or website. This does not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where protected by applicable law.
Your mandatory consumer rights remain intact. Nothing here excludes statutory guarantees, remedies, or other rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited. Those protections take priority over these terms.
Changes to these terms
Revised terms will be published here with a new effective date and apply prospectively, not to earlier use. Changes cannot remove rights you already have under applicable law.
General questions
Use the public website-repository issues for general questions about the app, website, or these terms. This is a public channel, not a confidential support service, and no response time is promised. Do not include documents, personal information, or network identifiers such as IP addresses, Wi-Fi names, or scanner serial numbers.
